About
Panther Prints is the literary and arts magazine of Century High School. Everything in it was made by Century students.
We publish one issue each semester — two a year — in four sections: poetry, prose, art and photography. Work is chosen by a staff of student editors who read every submission that comes in.
The magazine exists because a school produces an enormous amount of good work that nobody outside one classroom ever sees. A poem written for an assignment, a photograph taken on the way to school, a painting that went home in a folder. This is where those go instead.
Any student enrolled at Century, in any grade. You do not need to be in a writing class, an art class, or on the magazine staff. You do not need to have been published before, and most of the people in each issue haven't.
Submit as many pieces as you like, in as many sections as you like.
Publishing here doesn't sign anything away. You keep every right to your own writing, art and photographs. What you're giving us is permission to print the piece once — in the issue and on this site — with your name on it. If you later want a piece taken down, ask and we'll take it down.
We publish work about difficult things, because students write about difficult things. If a piece deals with something a reader might want warning about, tell us on the submission form and we'll print a content note alongside it.
We edit lightly and only for typos and clear errors. Anything larger, we come back and ask you first. We will not change what a piece is saying.
The students who read the submissions, choose the work and put each issue together — and the adviser who keeps the whole thing running.
