Open to every student in Rochester Public Schools — you don't need to be in a writing or art class, on staff, or published before. One piece or several.

Three things we ask

It has to be yours

Write it, draw it or photograph it yourself. Nothing copied or traced from someone else’s work, and nothing already published elsewhere first. Being inspired by something you love is fine.

Written by you, not by AI

No writing from ChatGPT or any other AI tool, and no AI-generated images. Spellcheck, and asking a friend or teacher to read a draft, are fine — that is editing, not writing it for you.

Keep it school appropriate

Nothing explicit, no graphic violence, no slurs or hate speech, nothing that encourages self-harm or drug use, and nothing that names or targets a real person.
